  • Excellent post and I guess that the vast majority of people are guilty of this. I particularly like the piece regarding surgery and doctors. Even after 1000’s of years they still call it a medical practice. With regards to Kens comments, so very true, massive imperfect action.
Regardless of what you do in life, when stepping out to walk your talk, there are many who will try to batter you back down again. But on the flip side, as I have personally seen here, there are many who will support and encourage you to go forward.

  • Dear Mark (Ken, Deb, Steph, Melissa, Joel,Mikey, Frank & all the rest), Without having met you all this year, I would still be in a sqaure one quandry as to how to get my new life as a marketer off the ground! Now thanks to advice like this post & support from all the great Academy folks at GVO, nothing can stop me now… Happy New Year & Many Thanks for all your help πŸ™‚

All the Best for 2011 & Prosperous Regards,
    Davine (LeadPal out there)

  • Making a custom Header for my website is driving me crazy. What software should I use to create it? If I had the right image size then WordPress theme would load it easily.

  • As you know, Deb and I were the number one offenders of the crime of perfection! We would edit, tweak, re-edit, re-tweak….the first thing you know, a week has gone by and our product is still on the shelf!!!

This is absolutely one of, if not THE most important lessons one can learn – in business and in life. I think Nike was onto something – Just Do It! πŸ™‚

  • Wow ! I’m so glad you posted this topic on your blog because I fit perfectly into this category. i have started my blog and i’m moving at turtle speeds with it but the important thing is that I’m moving πŸ™‚ .. Now I’ve been debating what i should write my first post about .. anyways this post makes me feel a little better! Thank you !

  • Hey Mark! Great post… and a point well-taken. I sometimes find myself being overly critical about some of the things I’m creating. Which slows me down getting things out.

I will make a real effort to strive for imperfection! LOL

Meanwhile, keep up the great work.

  • HI Mark,
Danke fΓΌr diesen guten Beitrag…Take Action und learning by Doing ist meine Devise und und gibt mir meinen Erfolg, obwohl ich erst seit 6 Monaten im Internet Marketing tΓ€tig bin. Copy and Paste and repeat it every day, it works
    Liebe grüße Hanshans.

    TRANSLATION – German to English
    HI Mark,
“Thanks for this good post … Take action and learning by doing is my motto and gives me and my success, although I have only been six months have been working in internet marketing. Copy and paste and repeat it every day, it works.”

  • Great points Mark. The same can be said for video. People get hung up on trying to be perfect creating a video, but they shouldn’t sweat the details and get bogged down trying to win an academy award. In fact, a person actually comes across more “natural” if they just speak from the heart instead of using a script. They are more believable that way and it shows. Taking action is far more important than delay. Thanks as always.

  • Derek Gardner

    Hey Mark –

I battle with this all the time…Ready, Fire, Aim right? Easier said than done, but, it must be done! What will it cost more? The few sales you missed because your first version isn’t 100% or the countless of sales that never happened because it hasn’t been published yet?

I’m releasing my next project in time for the Internet Marketer’s cruise, June 6th, 2 months ahead of schedule because it would cost me a ton of money waiting until it’s perfect. That’s why we have “beta” launches…Get feedback, make changes, move on.

Great posting, Mark. It’s really important!!!

  • Thanks for the reminder Mark… We are also guilty as charged! Thanks for the timely advice. Imperfect Action is one of my biggest New Year’s Resolutions!

Happy New Year to you, Dina and the kids and have a blast on the cruise!

  • Your so right! But having always tried to make all perfect it is difficult to give up one’s habits. I’ll try and hope to succeed in working unperfect. Habbi Nju Yier (very unperfect! ;-)))

  • Bev Hewitt

Great Blog Mark. A good reminder that taking some Action is better than taking no Action!!

  • YES, thanks Mark for this great post and support. happy New Year to You , Dina and family from Munich, Marius

  • Hey Mark thanks for this great reminder of this imperfect world and the results of unintended consequences caused by misunderstandings.

    Vince

  • This is a very true and very hard lesson. I’m glad you are putting it out there because some of us need to hear it. Thank you for the reminder.

  • Great information Mark! I had to learn this lesson the hard way when I started working full time from home in 2005. We live in an imperfect world and that will never change.

I am sharing with every Marketer and business owner I know the incredible value of GVO Conference. Everyone needs a web conference room as days of hotel meetings are over.

  • A good example of why one of my favorites quotes is “You don’t have to get it right, you just have to get it going.”

  • Right on brother!

Doubt takes you out of Action Mode yet Action will always take you out of the Doubt Mode.

One of my favorite quotes goes like this:

Vision without Action is only a Dream
Action without Vision is only a Waste of Time
Vision combined with Action can change the World

    Have an unimaginably great day!

  • Great point, Mark. Micro Soft is an example of putting out products that are not perfect, and releasing improvement as the product is used.

Your blog is a great reminder what one should do.

  • Great advice Mark, I need to take that advice and apply it myself. Always wanting everything to be perfect gets very little done. Taking action is the first step to success.
Take care my friend, and thank you.
    Ken Pringle

  • Great advice! I am going to apply that to myself! In respect to weight loss, most people fail because of the all or nothing mentality, whereas something is better than nothing! Great post Mark!

  • This is the number one reason people fail online.

They wait until everything is perfect and don’t take action!

As you know, there is no “perfect” in anything. And that’s why to succeed you need to take Massive Imperfect Action!

    Here’s to an Imperfect 2011!

  • VERY good blog. I think we have all done this, and probably most of us many times. Hardest part sometimes is believing it and DOING it !!

    Thanks Mark…………
